Abstract
80% of the world's fish is caught by 20 Northern countries, and overfishing in the Northern Hemisphere has meant that some of the fish species are on the verge of extinction. To safeguard their fish stocks the the South Pacific has to be more vigilant than more now. Issues of seabirds dying form fish hooks also known as long line fishing methods, the bait that used attracts the albatrosses which are harmful to the birds. Fiji Tourism industry has had a damage impact on the environment and can also be seen as benefit for the community and economy. The survey highlighted they need to decentralised and diversify the industry into nature tourism or ecotourism, tourism much linked to the environment.
