Welcome to the SPREP Information & Knowledge Management Centre (IKMC)

 

The SPREP Library system is a specialised environmental library dedicated to supporting SPREP staff, its projects and programmes, partners, member countries and wider stakeholders. It serves as a unique repository of publications, scientific and technical reports produced by SPREP, its members, partners and stakeholders.

 

Aim

  • To collect, store and disseminate scientific and technical information on environmental and development issues affecting Pacific island countries and territories.
  • To liaise and collaborate with national, regional and international organisations to circulate relevant information and publications across the region.
  • To support SPREP projects and programmes by providing targeted information to specific groups within the region.
  • To provide technical assistance and advice on information and knowledge management to SPREP projects and programmes

 

Mandate

To achieve excellence in the collection, storage, preservation, and retrieval of environmental information and knowledge ensuring he research, learning, and information needs of SPREP staff and member countries are met.

 

Collection

The library holds over 15,000 environmental monographs and pieces of grey literature.  It provides access to over 47,000 bibliographic records from 21 Pacific island states and territories. Over 7000 records are available in full text and can be downloaded at any time. Approximately 4,000 publications produced by SPREP and its partners are also accesible through the Virtual Library.
