On average the country experiences about 3 cyclones every 2 years. The impacts on coastlines is likely to be more dramatic than sea-level rise due to the dominance of permeable beach rock that is easily eroded by storm surges. Most economic activities, infrastructure and human settlements are located in the coastal areas.
