Role of Forests - Climate Change
Abstract
As policy-makers and governments move forward on taking action to stop global climate change and adapt to the changes that are already happening, it is essential that local communities are informed about the issues that are being discussed globally and nationally. Building a good foundation of knowledge about the causes of climate change, how the worlds governments are working toward solutions, and what are the proposed actions to reduce climate change and its impacts are very important for local stakeholders. With this knowledge indigenous peoples and local communities, as well as other local stakeholders, will have the tools and information needed to participate fully and effectively in decision making processes related to climate change planning and action, bringing their own traditional knowledge, experience and priorities to these discussions.
