Pacific Ocean Pollution Prevention Programme (PACPOL)
2015
The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), in partnership with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), has prepared PACPOL, the Pacific Oceans Pollution Prevention Programme. PACPOL addresses ship-sourced marine pollution in the Pacific island region, through, amongst other things, assisting countries to become members of the IMO and effectively implement the various IMO Conventions which help prevent marine pollution. PACPOL 20152020 is the third version of the PACPOL Strategy. The first PACPOL strategy was developed in 2000, and the second in 2009, all with the financial assistance and partnership of IMO.
