Consultation in Vanuatu - Waste Management Ad 1-6

Abstract

Link to the play Bae Yumi Winim Kompetesen Ia ("Let’s Win This Competition!"), developed by Wan Smolbag Theatre in partnership with the Department of Environmental Protection and Conservation (DEPC) as part of a national awareness campaign on waste management. The play uses humour, music, and culturally resonant storytelling to explore everyday waste issues in Vanuatu. The story follows local characters navigating the challenges of plastic pollution, waste burning, and littering—all while competing in a fictional “cleanest community” contest. Through laughter and local language, the play delivers practical messages on sorting waste, community action, and the dangers of poor disposal practices.
