Abstract

In 1989, a special committee was established to identify and select the 7 'underwater' wonders of the world. An extensive coverage of the first selected underwater wonder; PALAU, is provided. Palau represents an area of great diversity in habitats enabling the existence of a unique marine life. Marine animals found in Micronesia, and everywhere else in the world, are also found within this unique marine environment. Threat from development such as immigration of US Army and Navy troops for training activities are potentially damaging to this unique environment.
