Abstract
This report describes the proceedings of the Workshop on the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol in the Pacific region held in Nadi, Fiji 21 23 May 2002 at the Fiji Mocambo Hotel. This workshop was attended by representatives from South Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), United Nations Environment Programme's Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (UNEP DTIE), UNEP's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (UNEP ROAP), representatives from governments of Australia, and the Pacific island countries: Cook Islands, Fiji, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. The purpose of this workshop was to facilitate the process of implementing the Montreal Protocol in each participating country through the Regional Strategy. One aim was to introduce the Regional Strategy and gain support from each participating country. Another aim of the workshop was to obtain data of ODS consumption from each participating country in compliance with the Montreal Protocol.
