Abstract
The indigenous forests of Western Samoa have always been a source of wood for construction of traditional houses and canoes and for incidental items such as wooden bowls. In recent times sawn timber (and veneer) has been produced; these have found increasing use in European-style construction and furniture in Samoa and have been exported to various Pacific countries.
