The guidelines, which are a further development of those previously published provide a means for assessing the impacts of potential climate change and of evaluating appropriate adaptions. They reflect current knowledge and will be updated as improved methodologies are developed. They do not aim to prescribed a single preferred method, but provide an analytical outline that comprises a number of steps. A range of methods is identified at each step. Where possible, the merits and drawbacks of different methods are briefly discussed, with some suggestions on their selection and use.
