Abstract
This report outlines the implications of the expected climate change and consequent sea-level rise for the Republic of Palau. The report is one of a series of reports produced for a number of Pacific Island countries which have been identified as being under threat of major environmental change due to the expected greenhouse-forced global warming and consequent sea-level rise. The report is a result of a seven-day consultation mission to the Republic of Palau between April 12 and 19, 1993, by a two-person team operating under the auspices of the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme. The objective of the mission was to prepare a report, in close consultation with national experts, and the government a proposal for a programme of assistance to undertake an in-depth study of the potential negative impacts of climatic changes due to global warming and consequent sea-level rise on the natural environment and socio- economic structures and activities of the Republic of Palau.
