Sea level rise consititutes a basic physical change in the environment caused by global warming and there is growing concern that it will have grave impacts on coastal zones throughout the world. The Coastal Zone Management Subgroup of the Intergovernmental panel on climate change developed a framework for future strategies and the themes which must be tackled in the future in its first report puplished in October 1990.
