Environmental Impact Statement : Tuna Processing Plant Development - Phase 1, Okat Point, Kosrae, Federated States of Micronesia

Abstract

Kosrae State, independently and as an integral part of the Federated States of Micronesia, has made a commitment to pursue development of an economic base on the island state. The Government of Kosrae has decided to develop a tuna processing industry following various studies indicating the potential viability of such an industry. Okat Point, with its existing port and airport, was chosen as the site for the cold storage plant, the tuna processing plant and related ancillary facilities.
