General Notes
This journal supplies a focal point for the hitherto scattered literature in this rapidly expanding field of rest studies, publishing analytical and theoretical papers on both modern and acient reefs. It encourages the search for generalisations about reef structure and dynamics, and reflects the growing awareness among reef workers of the importance of experimentation, modeling, quanification and applies science in reef studies. Papers publishes in the journal deal with population dynamics and community acology of reef organisms, energy and nutrient flows, biogeochemicals cycles, physiology of calsification, reef response to natural and anthropodenic stress, behavioral ecology, sedimentology, diagenesis, reef structure and morphology, evalutionary ecology of the reef biota, paleoceanography of coral islands and the science which underpins reef management. The joural is also open to review articles, notes and perspectives on major scientific problems concerning coral reefs.
