Abstract
Bats make up nearly a quarter of the world mammal species, they come in all shapes and sizes but still know little of these species. One of the most recent surprise to science that the discovery of the male bismak flying fox in PNG can produce breast milk. The bismak flying fox is also one of the more spectacular in PNG because of its facial markings. Pavuvu island is the largest island in Solomon Islands. In early 1905 it was leased to leavers companies by the Government and the locals were forced to move to other islands. Large areas of Pavuvu were logged in order to establish coconut plantation but in the late 1980s the leavers international gave the land back to Solomon Islands government after the company adopted a policy of not clearing rainforest. As a result of this there are two types of land ownership on Pavuvu, one type is Government ownership a various known as alienated land, this land is under perpetual title to the Government the remainder of the land is customary land. Borabora nicked name around the world Pearl of the Pacific. But the environmental and social impact of the hotel industries on their tiny islands who's circumfrances is only about 30km
