The management plan describes the priority strategies for the upland areas of the Lake Lanuto'o National Park that will best maintain and improve the key conservation values in these areas by reducing the impact of threats, including from climate change. The management planning process began in 20-24 August 2012 with the Site management planning workshop for climate resilience of Samoa's forest. This workshop involved application of the Conservation Action Planning (CAP) Process of the Open Standards for the practice of conservation.

Tonga is ranked as the third most vulnerable country in the world to natural hazards. As a small island developing state on the front line of natural hazards, the additional risks posed by climate change are a critical cause for concern.

A new methodology is being developed in response to increased spending on activities and interventions relating to climate change, both from global funds and bilateral support, and from domestic resources.

The suite of species taken by artisanal fisheries targeting tuna often includes species caught in the larger industrial tuna fisheries, leading to concerns that industrial fisheries may reduce local fish availability and consequently impact upon artisanal catch rates. This study provides supporting evidence that industrial purse seine fisheries may impact upon artisanal and subsistence fishers. A tagged population of skipjack and yellowfin tuna known size was monitored through time and the probability of recapture was used as a measure of interaction with the industrial purse seine fishing effort was higher.

The purpose of this report is to provide Wan Smolbag Theatre's (WSB) Vanua-Tai turtle monitors network and partners with a summary of tagging and nesting information that has been submitted to SPRREP for incorporation into the regional Turtle Research and Monitoring Database System (TREDS). This report aims to provide information that can be used to assist turtle conservation work carried out in Vanuatu.

This report describes, quantifies and, where possible, calculates the economic value of Tonga's marine and coastal resources. Seven key marine ecosystem services are evaluated in detail: subsistence and commercial fishing; minerals and aggregate mining; tourism; coastal protection; carbon sequestration; and research, management and education. Others services are explored as well, including cultural and traditional values associated with the sea, potential future industries and other human benefits that have not yet been analysed or exploited. The scarcity of data about many of these ecosystem services prevents alculation of the total economic value, so the values below should be regarded as minimum estimates. Data gaps are described in detail in this report.

Small Pacific Island Countries (PICs) are among the most vulnerable countries in the world to the anticipated detrimental health effects of climate change. The assessment of health vulnerabilities and planning adaptation strategies to minimize the impacts of climate change on health tests traditional health governance structures and depends on strong linkages and partnerships between actors involved in these vital processes.

The Pacific Islands region is currently experiencing an intensification of interest in culture of an enabler, rather than an inhibitor of development.
