The IUCN Oceania Regional Office was established in Suva, Fiji in 2007. The establishment of the regional office provided the opportunity to mobilise IUCN’s resources and partnerships more effectively and to expand collaboration with national and regional partners. Some highlights of the last five years include: • Growth of a highly competent team from 3 to over 20 staff • 5 out-posted project officers in 5 countries• Strong government and regional partnerships in focus areas • Development and implementation of activities in over 12 Pacific Island Countries and Territories • Oceania Membership - an additional twelve members have joined the Union since 2007 including six Pacific Island States (Fiji, Nauru, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu)
