This report was produced as a key output from the Sea'ties Pacific Regional Workshop that was held between 10 - 12 July 2023 in Nadi, Fiji. The workshop was organised by the Ocean & Climate Platform, the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), and the Pacific Climate Change Centre (PCCC), with funding support from the Fonds Pacifique (French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs), the PCCC, and SPREP through the technical assistance programme of the Kiwa Initiative. The report provides an overview of current adaptation challenges faced across the Pacific region, along with inspiring initiatives to address them. Findings in this report draw on insights gained from individuals as well as the workshop itself, and highlights that in a region where many islands are low-lying, the vast majority of the population lives by the ocean where the coast is rapidly urbanising, sea level rise remains an existential issue and is paramount to fast-track both mitigation and adaptation action.

L'objectif de ce livret consiste à présenter en quoi consistent les droits humains et pourquoi ils sont pertinents et doivent être pris en compte lors de la conception et de la mise en oeuvre des SfN pour l'adaptation au changement climatique dans les îles du Pacifique.

Ce guide consacré à l’analyse de l'équité entre les genres, du handicap et de l'inclusion sociale (GEDSI) s’adresse aux organisations et aux personnes qui oeuvrent en faveur de Solutions fondées sur la Nature (SfN) dans les îles du Pacifique. Il fournit des informations et des conseils sur la manière de mener une analyse GEDSI et d'utiliser ses résultats pour s'assurer que les parties prenantes encouragent l'égalité, traitent des freins et leviers liés au genre et au handicap et garantissent l'inclusion sociale dans les projets SfN.

Cet outil d'évaluation des risques pour les droits humains a été conçu pour appuyer les organisations et les personnes travaillant sur des Solutions fondées sur la Nature (SfN) dans les îles du Pacifique souhaitant s'assurer que leurs projets ne portent pas préjudice aux personnes impliquées.

Ocean and land are not separate systems, what happens in one influences the other. In this way, what happens on every Pacific island has an impact on the surrounding ocean. In the past, nutrients would flow from land to sea to keep reefs and seagrass beds healthy. Seabirds and turtles bring marine nutrients to land when they breed.

These are some dangers that impact all marine species, fishing, climate change, plastic pollution and coastal development.
